Witness Protection Program Blogs From The C3M Alumni Gang

So there used to be this little unofficial group of us that somehow got termed the Connecticut Motorsports Media Mafia.

Las_vegas_welcome_2In the good old days, like three years ago, the Connecticut Motorsports Media Mafia would roam from track to track, pillaging press boxes all along the trail. No insult was ever to low and no blue word ever too risqué. Yes, we were the group that those certain trade paper writers loved to hate because we had too good of a time having a blast being reporters. We were like the rat pack moving through Las Vegas in the old days except for much poorer, uglier and far less talented.

These days the old Connecticut Motorsports Media Mafia has been torn apart worse than John Gotti’s old gang at the Ravenite Social Club.

Travis Barrett from the Woonsocket (R.I.) Call is now somewhere up in Maine, where I hear the snow is just beginning to melt off the racetracks and ice fishing season is only a matter of weeks away. Jason Christley from the Day of New London is now down in Daytona, choosing to go to the dark side, yes, NASCAR public relations. Even Walt Newcomb of Modseriesscene has bailed out of the press box for a spot back in the pits.

I bring this up only because one of my old comrades is diving in headfirst to the world of motorsports blogging. I’ll say this, if you like what you see here, then I imagine you’re going to enjoy what Barrett has to say on his new blog, Green-White-Checker. Barrett and I have eerily similar, and often times cynical, opinions on racing. So keep an eye out for the musings from Maine.

And Barrett’s not the only Connecticut Motorsports Media Mafia member alumni blogging these days. If you have a craving for a little more vanilla PR stylings, check out Christley’s blog on NASCAR.com. Like all things NASCAR.com, it isn't easy on the eyes and it's even tougher to navigate, but its worth the time. Trust me, it’s the ONLY thing I look at at NASCAR.com.

Now if we could just get to start some blogging from Showtime’s pit area we’d be all set. Come on Walt, I’m so sure there are enough stories coming out of there to fill a daily diary.

First of all, you tool, it was the Woonsocket "Call," not Journal, and second of all -- who do you think you are to bring up such a dark time in my life?!?!?!

Payback will be mine...

Then again, thanks for the plug. At least you didn't call me "vanilla."

See you at Loudon, buddy...
