No Rest for the Wicked
I'll be on the air in a few hours for a regular (3 to 6 p.m.) show on New Year's Day. My friend Luanne Rice, who recently published this and is featured here, will be on as a guest. But buy her new book from an independent bookstore, not freakin' Barnes and Noble, OK?
We're also trying to make contact with hustling boots-on-the-ground reporter Melissa Bailey, who's already out in Hawkeyeland, covering Dodd and otherwise doing the bidding of the Imperial Bassmaster, Lord of the Heap

Where in central CT is an independent bookstore? To the best of my knowledge, isn't a one.
Is something wrong with B&N? Did I miss news on that? Cuz, I just got home from B&N in Glastonbury.
COLIN WRITES: You've gotta be kidding me. Start with the Bookworm in West Hartford Center. Then there's Millrace in Farmington. Gallow's Hill on the Trinity Campus. I'll let other readers chime in with their own choices.

Luanne Rice! I'm reading her " The Edge of Winter, " set down here in South County, RI. The U-Boat in that one, at least for me, is a metaphor for all the " old Rhode Island " landmarks that are being scuttled to make way for more crap. The Ocean House Hotel in Watch Hill, Fiddlesticks. Places like that. Hope lots of folks visit ye olde book shoppes to pick up her latest.
