So this is the new year ...
... And I don't feel any different.
Death Cab for Cutie references aside, there's a bunch to look forward to in 2007. New albums are on the way from the Shins, LCD Soundsystem, Wilco, Son Volt, Andrew Bird, Modest Mouse, Jesse Malin, Norah Jones, Erin McKeown, the Arcade Fire, Winterpills, !!!, possibly Radiohead and maybe even Guns N' Roses. (GNR is saying March 6, but we'll see about that ...) And who knows what new bands will pop up with unlooked-for gems.
The concert schedule is still a bit bare in these parts, but Toad's has Mates of State Jan. 13 and a Dave Alvin/James McMurtry double-bill Jan. 28. Washington DC's Middle Distance Runner plays Feb. 17 at Sweet Jane's. Pearl Street in Northampton hosts Camera Obscura Jan. 26 and the Rapture Feb. 10. Classic rockers have Bob Seger Jan. 20 at Mohegan Sun.
So there are few ways to keep busy during the cold, dark winter months, assuming it ever truly gets cold.

Don't forget the crazy Mastodon/Priestess/Converge show at Toad's on Feb. 16.
That should be killer.

Boston's Aberdeen City (whose debut was produced by the great Steve Lillywhite) will be playing Shag Frenzy @ Sweet Jane's on Saturday, Jan. 20th.
