Just listened to the audio of the interview again and the promoter said the pit will always be 700 for every show.

Eric replies: Jimmy?

Daniel

Heard the promotor on the radio this afternoon and he said it was 700 for the Stripes show. Now sure if it varies from show to show but he said 700.

Eric replies: He said 900 in the comment just below this one. Either way, it's a good size.

Jim Koplik

The White Stripes pit has a capacity of 900.

Daniel

Also, how big is the GA/pit?

Eric replies: Good question. This will only be the second show at which this venue has had a pit, and I wasn't at the first show. Jimmy? How big is the pit?

Daniel

If you had pit tix and row NN tickets, which would you use? Do you think the sound will be better in one or the other?

Eric replies: I'd use the pit tix, mostly because sitting down for the White Stripes just seems wrong.

Jim Koplik

What does a sterile airplane hanger sound like?

Eric replies: Like a big empty room with a great sound system and no atmosphere.

I'm in the small minority I bet . . . but I attended that Wilco show with my 8 1/2 months pregnant wife. And all that open space afforded us the opportunity to just relax among the myriad open seats in the back.

Added bonus: my daughter has as much "indie cred" as any three year old at the park - having seen (or at least heard) Wilco live before leaving the womb. She also subscribes to "Magnet Kids!" so she can keep up with all her favorite bands.

The White Stripes are on the top on my list of bands to see live, but I'm disappointed about the venue. After hearing Coldplay reverberate off the Oakdale walls a few years ago, I told myself I wouldn't go back there for a rock show. I hope the improvements have made a difference. I'm not sure I'll risk it, but if you say they've made some changes, it might be worth it.

I was wondering who they were going to sign with after V2 folded. I agree with your take on Warners because they really championed the "indie" bands with labels like Sire. Back in the day, labels like Mute, London, Rough Trade, etc. could release and break underground worldwide artists in the US because of Warners-owned Sire. I picked up the new Arctic Monkeys this week, and it says it is mfg and dist by Warner Bros. for the USA, even though it is clearly a Domino release with the cat# and a non-WEA barcode. They still know how to "think and act" indie in a world dominated by majors wanting to take it all.
