Houston rapper Mike Jones had a novel promotions strategy for his debut album, "Who is Mike Jones?" He made his cellphone number widely available — even incorporating it into his rhymes — and took calls from fans.
Now that he's reached platinum sales, he's tacking a different tack to build buzz for "The American Dream," his sophomore album, which is due out July 10: The rapper is taking any and all queries in a far-reaching Q&A he's calling Ask Mike Jones, promising to answer all e-mails sent to AskMikeJones@gmail.com.
"Because I received so many calls on 281-330-8004 there were many times where my friends (fans) couldn't get through," Jones says in a press release. "With the email address it will be much easier for me to communicate with them because I receive emails from that address on my BlackBerry that is always with me."
There you have it: Mike Jones is a man of the people.
