Van Halen-Roth reunion back on track
The on-again, off-again Van Halen reunion with David Lee Roth is back on, for now, Billboard reports.
The oft-feuding sides are set to announce a 50-date tour next week, the magazine says. A planned summer amphitheater tour was nixed in February before it started. Subsequently, Eddie Van Halen checked into rehab in March.
Although the brothers Van Halen seem to have patched up their relationship with the famously flamboyant Roth, who left the band in 1985, that's not the case with bassist Michael Anthony. His friendship with Roth replacement/antagonist Sammy Hagar is apparently too much for the Van Halens to bear, and as a result, Eddie's son Wolfgang will handle bass duties on the tour this fall. That is, if the tour actually happens.
Is a Connecticut date in the offing? Stay tuned.
UPDATE (8/13/07): Nope, no Connecticut date. The closest stops are Oct. 30 in Boston and Nov. 13 at Madison Square Garden in New York. There are a lot of holes in the schedule, but it seems likely that no Connecticut date will happen unless the tour is extended.
FURTHER UPDATE (8/27/07): Van Halen has, in fact, added a Connecticut date. Read more here.

I guess Jim Koplik is losing his touch! Van Halen should play Mohegan Sun as it's a much better venue than the Hartford Civic Center. Also, Mohegan will charge MORE than the $50-$125 ticket price range that I've seen thus making it worth it for the band. I'm always willing to pay more for a Mohegan Sun show: valet parking, the casino atmosphere and a great arena.
No I don't work for the casino. LOL
