Ready for Some Football

Steven Van Zandt counts down the remade version of  Hank Williams Jr.’s “All My Rowdy Friends Are You Coming Over Tonight” that will become the theme of “Monday Night Football” when it moves from ABC to ESPN this fall.

In a first look at the music video, shot at the House of Blues in Orlando and also co-produced by Van Zant, Hank Jr. fronts a stellar band also featuring Little Richard, Clarence Clemons, Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick, Bootsy Collins, Charlie Daniels, Bernie Worrell, Chris Burney of Bowling for Soup, and ?uestlove of The Roots.

The lyrics of the 1989 hit retooled as a football anthem has been changed to reflect the change from ABC to ESPN, saying “all my rowdy friends are coming over Monday night” instead of “coming over tonight.”

In addition, officials said the lyrics and visuals would change each week to reflect  that week’s game and venue. The season starts Sept. 11 with the regular season opener of the Minnesota Vikings at Washington Redskins.
