It’s easy to exaggerate the accomplishments of the famous, especially upon the occasion of their death. How could they possibly have lived up to their accolades or titles bestowed on them?
In the case of James Brown, who died of heart failure at 73 Christmas morning, it was no exaggeration to have been called the Hardest Working Man in Show Business. He was just back from England, where he was placed into its Music Hall of Fame and did a performance, has an album in the can ready to be released and was ready to go out on tour this week.
Like Elvis Presley before him, 30 years ago this August, Brown was to have played Connecticut the week he died. Tickets for his Dec. 27 show in Waterbury will likely be saved as souvenirs.
