Perhaps someone can help me here. Why was Montgomery in the game? What was Geno thinking? She was 4 for 18 (1 for 9 from 3 point range) which I can lve with but most of her shots were taken with no UCONN players under the basket and she never attempted to get the ball into UCONN's really fine post players (Houston, Charles, Montgomery). She took one less shot overall than Moore. Who's the star of this team? I just don't get it. And also Maya Moore was getting assaulted by the Stanford defense. Was the game that physical?

I guess a Uconn/Tenn match wasn't meant to be. Stanford was out to win and did a great job! I expect they will take the Championship game as Tenn. didn't look exceptionally good either. LSU shot themselves in the foot missing too many free-throws! It should have been their game. A Standford/LSU match would have been fun! I would hope the game last night might have humbled Geno and the team.

Patti: LSU is not a good Foul shooting team, ever. But you've got to respect the defense of all final 4 teams--that is why the scores where as they were.

The team was tired and worn out by a long season--but so were most of the others.

Stanford watched all of the Rutgers/UConn games as well as the Louisville game and setup their game plan accordingly. They played the Rutgers defense perfectly--even with the pushing and bumping--but shot the 3 ball better. Geno's GUYs could only guard the inside or the outside but with them spread you can't do both. Great game plan by Stanford and perfect execution.
With Geno's walking wounded this may have been a different outcome.
